The Big Idea
From Deep Aspen Roots to Broader Reach
The Opportunity
As Aspen Community Programs expanded its renowned programming beyond Aspen into the broader Roaring Fork Valley, they wanted to amplify who the organization is, what it stands for, and how it connects people to one another and to a larger mission. Often confused with other initiatives within the Aspen Institute, the program needed a clearer identity, one that could distinguish its work, deepen brand awareness for its unique value in connecting people and igniting dialogue around important issues, and strengthen recognition across the region.
The Solution
Grounded in research, discovery, and deep collaboration, Waypoint Collective partnered with Aspen Community Programs’ to bring clarity to their identity through strategic messaging and an updated visual identity.
The Creative
At the center of the creative work was clarity — clarity of purpose, identity, and connection. Each element was designed to reduce confusion, strengthen recognition, and express Aspen Community Programs’ role as a community-driven initiative with deep roots and growing regional impact, while maintaining a clear connection to the Aspen Institute.
Strategic Messaging Framework
We developed a clear, memorable messaging framework that articulates Aspen Community Programs’ purpose, role, and value within both the Roaring Fork Valley and the broader Aspen Institute ecosystem. The framework equips stakeholders with confident, ready-to-deploy language that strengthens brand recognition, clarifies differentiation, and deepens emotional connection across audiences.
Visual Identity
Building on research and strategy, we created a refreshed visual identity that signals the organization’s brand promise and personality while reflecting the values that make the program distinct. Through exploratory mood boards, we defined an aesthetic direction for color, typography, and tone, then translated that direction into logo concepts that align with the organization’s aspirations and regional reach. The final identity balances heritage and evolution — grounded in place while positioned for growth.
Brand Guidelines & Asset Templates
To ensure consistency and longevity, we developed a brand guide that weaves together visual identity and messaging into a cohesive system. We then extended the brand into core asset templates (including a branded presentation deck, business card, and email signature) providing the team with practical tools to confidently apply the new identity across touchpoints.
The Creative
Across messaging, identity, and assets, the creative work reinforces Aspen Community Programs as a trusted, community-owned presence — one that honors its history, clarifies its role, and strengthens relationships throughout the Roaring Fork Valley.
