Meet the Waypoint Team
Founder & Chief Strategist
Sarah Lehmann is Principal and Founder of Waypoint Collective. In 2015, Sarah became co-owner and lead strategist at Ebb+Flow Creative after more than a decade working in communications for non-profit and fundraising organizations. Then in 2019, she returned to her roots to focus entirely on nonprofit and impact-driven organizations and campaigns, launching Waypoint Collective. Sarah’s passion lies in the opportunity to serve as a true thought partner for clients, working alongside them to help identify the most powerful ways to convey the unique value and resounding impact of their organization and their work.
Previously, Sarah served as the vice president of marketing and communications for the Denver Public Schools Foundation, where she helped shape the vision and executed the strategy that realized 112 percent growth in fundraising revenue from $6.6 million to $14.1 million during her five-year tenure. Sarah also directed all marketing and fundraising communications for the organization, set strategy and oversaw a team that handled community outreach, branding, design, web communications, media relations and social media.
Prior to that, Sarah served as marketing and public relations manager at the Vail Valley Foundation from 2005 to 2010, where she spearheaded marketing for art, athletic and education programs across the Vail Valley and throughout Eagle County. Sarah began her career in the high country in 2002 as a reporter for the Vail Daily and continued writing for the newspaper through 2010. Sarah is still a journalist and storyteller at heart.
Sarah’s volunteer work centers around youth development and organizations that close the educational equity gap, empower women in business and break down the stigma around mental health.
Director of Operations
Kristina brings over 13 years of communications, marketing and project management experience across a variety of industries including nonprofit, B2B, entertainment and associations. She executes projects through a balance of data-driven decisions, stakeholder collaboration and out-of-the-box ideas and by building strong, positive relationships with constituents and colleagues.
Before joining Waypoint, Kristina managed communications and membership for the American Cheese Society, upholding association branding and nurturing member relationships. Waypoint Collective marks her third time working with founder, Sarah Lehmann. The first was at the Denver Public Schools Foundation where Kristina led cause-marketing and fundraising events including their annual gala. The second was at Ebb+Flow Creative agency, doing project and operations management.
Prior to that, Kristina led marketing project management at Dow Corning and started her career in entertainment marketing. A native Detroiter, Kristina planted roots in Denver in 2013 with her family.
Senior Brand Strategist
Sarah Hubbard has spent 15+ years in a wide-range of brand strategy roles including communications, non-profit marketing and creative asset production. Sarah is a storyteller at heart and loves seeing client’s passion for their work come to life in a way that drives audiences to action.
She is proud to have provided strategic support to the following organizations in the past few years: Minds Matter, Invest in Kids, The University of Denver, LoveYourBrain Foundation, The Juniper Fund, Denver Kids and Nurse-Family Partnership, among many others.
Prior to becoming a project-based strategist, Sarah served as the Marketing Director for Denver-based nonprofit First Descents, which provides life-changing outdoor adventures for young adults impacted by cancer. In her three years in this role, the organization hit record-breaking fundraising goals, built a library of best-in-class compelling video and digital content and launched a print magazine.
Before accepting her job at First Descents via text message from Everest Basecamp, Sarah spent 7 years with Backbone Media, the leading PR agency in the active lifestyle industry. While there, she worked alongside the global marketing teams at Eddie Bauer, REI, Klean Kanteen, among dozens of others.
Sarah specializes in supporting clients that serve children and families and currently lives in Boulder, CO.
Associate Content Strategist & Writer
Diane Pauley has spent the last eight years and counting helping mission-driven brands stand out in their respective industries with clear messaging and relevant language that enables them to attract, engage and connect with their audiences. Diane has worked both as a marketing professional and on the agency side, in nonprofit, health and wellness, education, tech and beyond. She is a connector, a storyteller and a strategic communicator who loves supporting organizations with their brand messaging, copywriting and content marketing efforts, so they can make their impact in the world known.
Prior to receiving a finance degree from the University of Northern Colorado, David served as an Army Infantry soldier stationed at Ft. Hood Texas. Later in his career he earned an accounting degree from Regis University while working as the regional controller for Colorado Athletic Club.
Dave is a Colorado native, growing up in Golden Colorado. He is an avid cyclist and skier/snowboarder.
Alex has over six years of design experience working on, and specializing in, the development and creation of visual identities, editorial and print design, web design and illustration at boutique agencies, branding firms and through her freelance design career. She is particularly passionate about working in partnership with nonprofit organizations and start-ups in making the world we inhabit a little more beautiful every day through good design and good causes.
Do great work and be nice in the process, that’s always been Shum's motto. And over the course of 25+ years, he's done that for Fortune 500 brands, to tiny boutique design shops working with startups, to leading global brands as Creative Director at rabble+rouser. In his years as Designer, Art Director and Creative Director Shum has overseen integrated advertising campaigns across emerging channels, TV, print, digital and social as well leading rebranding and design efforts for large-scale, corporate identity systems. In working directly with clients, he's developed strong relationships to deliver strategic and emotionally-resonant creative that also successfully achieves business goals.
Shum has worked with a wide range of people along the way: Apple, United Airlines, NFL, Vail Resorts, Weber Grills, MS Society, The North Face, American Express, Coors, Boeing and more.
Will Proto has over 15 years of experience as a Creative Director/Senior Designer. He has worked for a variety of ad agencies, both big and small. Throughout his career, he has combined strategic thinking and creativity to develop unique and innovative marketing solutions that deliver positive business results.
Will has worked on a wide variety of brands - from beer and tampons to batteries and air fresheners, he enjoys bringing a fresh perspective to all of his projects.
Outside of work and family, Will enjoys cycling, snowboarding and a good IPA. Additionally, he moonlights as a fly fishing guide.
Melissa has been leading marketing efforts as a manager and designer for more than two decades, providing creative design expertise and communications strategies for area agencies, companies, city governments and nonprofits. Melissa developed a wealth of strategy, design and project management expertise building up the marketing and communications capacities for a number of sizable companies.
Melissa volunteers in her free time leveraging her knowledge to help others. She sits on the grant review committee for the DPS Foundation A to Z Fund.
Led by Emma
Waypoint Collective’s Development Team is led by Emma, a nearly two-decade expert in all things website development. Emma has been building and supporting websites since 2001, initially to assist environmental education organizations with their websites. Emma has extensive experience in WordPress websites and has a knack for translating “tech-talk” into understandable terms. She manages a talented team of developers who together provide the technical aspect of creative web solutions.
